A few days back, Richards's men showed up demanding the artifact. The captain flew into a rage, drew his saber, and cut down three on the spot—then shot another. We dropped three more ourselves. The survivors were hanged by Hands personally. They shouldn't have come. Fools to the bone—just like their captain.

Hands sent the Unsinkable out with his trusted men to bring back more prisoners. The old ones are already gone—Hands keeps dragging them off, one by one, to God knows where. I don't know who they'll hit. Merchant ships rarely come to the archipelago now, and Tortuga lies in ruins… Good luck to the lads. If they don't bring back fresh meat, I'm afraid we'll be the ones dragged off next.
